The area of Avenue A and 4th Street in Bayonne was closed to vehicles and pedestrians after a transformer exploded downing live wires around 10:30 a.m. Monday, authorities said.

More than 270 PSEG customers were without power as of 11 a.m., according to the PSEG outage map.
